Genoa have made yet another coup on the transfer market signing highly rated Brazilian right back Rafinha from German giants Schalke 04. There mercato has gone beyond all expectation. After selling Thiago Motta and Diego Milito last summer Genoa's 9th place finish was seen as somewhat of a dissapointment. However, this mercato has been superb. Luca Toni, Portuguese International's Eduaro and Miguel Veloso and now Rafinha have arrived. Not to mention the highly talented Italy defender Andrea Ranocchia who has been loaned out to them from Inter Milan for this season. With European football being absent from Genoa's season the Grifoni all of a sudden look like a strong bet for having the time and ability to mount a challenge for the fourth spot alongside Napoli, Palermo, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and possibly Lazio as well if they can push through their deal for the highly rated and talented Brazilian midfielder Hernanes. But for now, well done Genoa.
