Calcio News

Season Starts
The fixtures for the Serie A season for 2009/2010 will be shown to the world on Wednesday the 29th of July. Of particular interest will be the dates for the Rome derby, Milan derby, Derby D'Italia and Genoa derby. The season will begin on Saturday August the 22nd with an afternoon and evening game on that date and end on May the 16th early, to allow preparations for the 2010 FIFA world cup.

But before that...
Inter Milan will face off against Lazio in Beijing China at the birds nest stadium in the Italian Super cup on the 8th of August. This is a match between the Scudetto holders, Inter Milan, and the Coppa Italia holders, Lazio. Inter will start as favourites but Lazio showed their quality in one off matches last season beating both Milan and Juve, twice, on the way to a Coppa Italia triumph against Genoa based club Sampdoria. Inter will be looking to win their fifth Super Cup having won it previously in 1989, 2005, 2006 and 2008 while Lazio will be looking for their third having won their previous two in 1998 and 2000. In the last match between the two clubs in this event in 2000 Lazio ran out 4-3 winners at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Eto'o touches down
Samuel Eto touched down in Milan this morning ready for a medical with Il Biscione and has signed a five year deal with Inter. The signing has been made official on Inter Milan's official website. The striker has promised the fans to work every day as he always has done, and is aiming for the Champions League.

Rossi to Milan
?
According to goal.com it was announced earlier on AC Milan's official website that Guiseppe Rossi had joined Milan, only for the news to be taken off later on. Two theories have been advanced by goal.com, either that the club site was hacked or that the news was released earlier than it should have been, in other words before a deal had been completed. It does seem rather strange, as Milan have admitted that they are now in the market for Klass Jan Huntelaar and no mention of Rossi has been heard before this incident. Time will tell, and in addition to that Manchester Cities Elano has been rumoured to be moving to the red side of Milan also this summer in the last 24 hours or so.
