Calcio Mercato Roundup

A brief round up tonight on the mercato issues of the day. Lazio are still waiting on Julio Cruz to respond to their offer to join the Aquile, but may have some positive news in the sense that one of the want away trio of Pandev, Ledesma and De Silvestri is highly likely to change their mind in the coming days and sign a new contract with the Rome club. Cristian Ledesma, the highly rated Argentine playmaker is rumoured to be the first of the three to reconcile with the Rome giants. This will be of huge relief to new manager Ballardini if it pans out. Ledesma is one of the best defensive ball winning midfielders in Serie A and if he stays is likely to be played in a deep lying playmaker role with Lazio adopting a 4:2:3:1 formation for next season. Arguably the loss of Ledesma would have been more damaging to the team than the possible departure of Goran Pandev, especially now Argentine wonder kid Mauro Zarate has taken over the mantle as the clubs best player. However, its also a growing possibility that Pandev will remain also.

How Lazio may look next season in 4:2:3:1 Formation

Muslera: Lichsteiner, Diakite, Siviglia, Kolarov: Ledesma, Brocchi: Foggia, Pandev, Zarate: Rocchi

Key subs: Cruz, Eliseu, Mauri, Radu, Rozenhal, Dabo, De Silvestri.

A much improved side from the one that made the Champions League two seasons back with now quality International players now even on the bench. Pandev may still move on, but President Lotito has made it known that if he does an equal replacement will arrive. The Italian cup champions could if they maintain consistency push for that elusive fourth place.
