Calcio Mercato: Cruz opts for Lazio

Its official, Julio Cruz has joined Lazio. The former Inter Milan hitman has joined the Roman club on a one year deal with the option to extend at the end of the season. Its a good signing for Lazio, who slowly but surely are weeding out the deadwood in their squad and adding real quality, especially with Portuguese International winger Eliseu having already arrived. Cruz joins Argentine wonder kid Mauro Zarate up front, along with Goran Pandev and Tomasso Rocchi. However, Lazio's real problems in the last season were in central defence, and by all reports promising Swede Rasmus Bengtsson is set to join today also. Still though the contract issue with Pandev and Ledesma has not been solved and doing so will be key in the coming weeks for the Aquilotti.

Milan to sell Pirlo, Roma Aquilani?

Despite recent reports having stated that neither of these players would leave their respective clubs in the summer both players have today again been linked to moves to Chelsea and Liverpool respectively. Pirlo again has been linked to Chelsea, although its hard to understand when you consider the sheer amount of midfielders that Chelsea possess. For Milan this move could represent a chance to break away from a midfield system dominated by the influence of one man, and allow them to move for Brazilian Hernanes who they have been chasing for a while to replace Kaka. For Roma loosing Aquilani would be a blow, but as he seems to spend most seasons on the injury table maybe it would be better for them to loose him than Mirko Vucinic. Ultimately, both Milan and Roma have struggled in this mercato. Most would feel sorry for Roma's lack of capital and slightly disgusted at Milan's lack of spending, despite being owned by a billionaire. Milan have however been linked to Luis Fabiano again today, with rumours suggesting Sevilla are now prepared to sell.

Inter to move for Van Der Vart

Every summer its the same problem for Inter. Creative midfield. They have a fantastic defence and forward line now with Eto'o, Milito and Balotelli. Quaresma has returned and looked decent, but he may flop again. But still, they refuse to deal with their main problem. Finally though this may be coming to an end. Rafael Van Der Vart has been linked with a move to the Benamata. The hugely talented Dutch International is out of favour at the Bernabeu and has been left out of tonights game with Juventus. Someone has to arrive in this position for Inter, could it be the Dutchman?

Genoa continue their revolution

This is getting ridiculous. Aside from Real Madrid, I can' t think of another club who has been so purposely active this summer. Hernan Crespo, Houssine Kharja, Sergio Floccari and former Boca Junior's and Argentina International Rodrigo Palacio have arrived to already complement a lethal forward line. Valencia right back Emiliano Morretti has arrived to strengthen the defence, promising Porutguese midfielder Pele has also arrived to strengthen a team that beat Juventus and Milan last Season. Still, its not enough for the Marassi faithful. No, Spanish midfield playmaker Alberti Zapater, noted for his great passing ability has arrived from Real Zaragoza today ultimately replacing Thiago Motta who left for Inter Milan. While Milan waste time on the transfer market this summer, Genoa have been the parallel opposite. They will be one to watch in Serie A and the Europa League next season.
