Coppa Italia: Fiorentina v Lazio
With Milan v Udinese shunted forward to next week, only one Coppa Italia final is due to take place in this coming week as defending champions Lazio head to Florence to play Fiorentina. Both sides are coming off poor performances at the weekend, but Fiorentina have been in great form of late and will be quietly confident of progressing to the next round. Lazio were abysmal against Atalanta in a 3-0 defeat, but went into that game by defeating a decent Palermo side 2-0 to reach this quarter final in the first place. A Palermo side that had prior to that only been beaten once since Delio Rossi had taken over, and that was only a few days after he had taken charge against Chievo. Lazio were solid against Palermo and player well in the second half without ever looking like they would concede. However, the 3-0 reverese in Bergamo has caused fans to plan a protest for the up coming fixture against Chievo at home at the weekend, a protest in which they will leave the Curva Nord empty for the first 15 minutes of the game.
This really can be considered a very important game for both sides. Lazio will see it as a chance to keep something positive going in their dyer season, while for Fiorentina the chance of some silverware will do very nicely alongside their up to now very good Champions League campaign and solid showing in Serie, as they are only 5 points from 3rd with a game in hand. Should be a cracker then.
