Calcio Mercato: The Final round up / Serie A by numbers

With the window in Italy now shut it is time to take a look at who has signed who in the final days , and who has not signed who. Lets start with the league Champions Inter Milan who finished off their mercato last week.

Inter Milan
Wesley Sneijder has arrived at last for them, and impressed on his league debut against Milan at the weekend. It may sound strange after beating AC Milan of all teams, but there will be tougher games to come for Inter and Sneijder so he will have to continue his good form to justify his fee from Real Madrid. However, it remains a big coup for the Beneamata who have done everything coach Jose Mourinho has asked of them. A striker, two midfielders and a defender were asked for and Diego Milito, Thiago Motta, Wesley Sneijder and Lucio arrived alone with Marko Arnautovic, the Austrian teen sensation.

Juventus
After Diego, Felipe Melo, Fabio Cannavaro and Martin Caceres were all signed it was widely believed that Juventus had finished with the transfer market. No so it would seem. A deal was struck with Lyon yesturday to bring Fabio Grosso back to Italy and fill the left back position for Juventus. Their defence now looks rock solid, but their midfield world class with Melo, Sissoko, Camoranesi, Thiago and Marchisio all available to operate behind Diego.

Parma

Parma continued their flurry of late activity by adding a number of quality player to their ranks, suggesting that they may be aiming for more than just survival upon their return to Serie A. Cristian Zaccardo arrives from Wolfsberg and will offer cover at both right back and centre back if required. Forward Nicola Amoruso arrives as well after spells at Torino and Siena in recent years, adding experience and quality to an already decent forward line that contains Alberto Paoloshi and Valeri Bojinov. They have added quality to their midfield as well by signing Torino midfielder Blerim Dzemaili, and with Danielle Galloppa already performing well in the middle of the park for Parma it looks survival could be secured a lot earlier than expected for the Gialloblu.

Elsewhere
Elsewhere Sampdoria added strenght to their forward line by signing Empoli forward Nicola Pozzi on a one year loan deal. With Cassano, Pazzini and youngster Marilungo already playing for Sampdoria their depth in the forward line positions looks assured. Fiorentina traded a player with West Ham. They have picked up young play maker Savio Nsereko in exchange for Portuguese defender Manuel Da Costa. Nsereko is highly rated and the Germany under 21 International has experience in Italy before with Brescia in Serie B.

Disappointment?
AC Milan decided not to add anyone following their 0-4 debacle to Inter at the weekend, much to the distate of their fans no doubt. Lazio also did not strenghern their back line or for that matter offload Goran Pandev or Cristian Ledesma before the window shut. The former has been linked to a January move to Inter or Fiorentina while the latter is likely to stay in the capital and ply his trade their.

SERIE A by numbers!!!
Ok, two weeks have gone so lets have a look at Serie A by numbers during this period.

Top Scorers: 3- Di Natale, 2- Cruz, Hamsik, Quagliarella, Pato, Pazzini, Paoloshi, Diego, Calaio
Highest Scorers: Sampdoria and Inter with 5 goals
Best Attendance: AC Milan v Inter with 78,467 in attendance, Roma v Juve with 57,500 fans
Serie A Attendance: After two rounds 501,658 fans have been through the gates, and this figure excludes the Cagliari home match that does not release official attendances.
100% Record Club: Sampdoria, Juve, Genoa and Lazio all still have 100% records.
Pointless: Catania, Chievo, Atalanta and suprisingly Roma all remain without a point after two rounds

1 comment:

  1. Guido de Angelis has point very well about Lazio.
Historical chance is ruined. Really shameful, all fans are disapointed.

Juve and Inter have done well, Milan on other hand can lose Cl spot imo.
