Top scorer title
The Scudetto this year may not go to the wire, but the top marksmans title in Serie A may well. Currently, big Zlatan leads the way with 20 goals already in only 31 games with only 2 penalties. The fading Marco Di Vaio has 19 goals with 4 pens, and he may well be the neutrals favourite as his loan spell with Bologna will have them wanting to make the deal permanent, but will Genoa let them. Di Vaio could be the perfect partner for another contender for this years title in Diego Milito. Milito has 16 goals to his credit so far this season in only 25 games. He has so far had 5 goals disallowed and when playing has been spectacular. With ten men against Fiorentina earlier this season, Milito absolutely ran the show for the majority of the game, but he will need a brace or a hatrick or two to take this title for now. Against Fiorentina, Milito met another top scorers contender in Alberto Gilardino. Gilardino has turned his career around and to be honest I am not at all suprised at his excellent season so far with 16 open play goals. At Milan, or any massive club, if you don't take your chances or get into a flow of scoring you get benched. He had a greater chance at Fiorentina to take his chances without the threat of being axed. It was a fresh start and he has added real quality to a team that could, with a few decent aquisitions, challenge for the title next season.
Next on the list, and perhaps just out of contention, is Pato with 14 who has found his scoring touch since Christmas where he has had a greater run in the side. Mutu is next on 13 goals, with Amauri after with 12 but both of these player could have been real contenders had they not been cursed with injury.
Who is my money on? Ibra at the moment. He seems to pick up a goal every other game at least and with Di Vaio dryed up and Milito just too far back this is Ibras chance to take the crown. With David Villa rumoured to be moving to Inter next season, Ibra had better take it quick! What do you think, please comment here.
