Coppa Italia round up
So, there we have it. What odd's would you have got for a Lazio v Sampdoria final instead of a derby d'Italia classic between Inter v Juventus? Very long odd's that's the answer. But the Samp and Lazio faithful will have the chance to lift some silverware and punch their ticket for next seasons Uefa cup, well Europa League to be precise. Lazio last won this title in 2004, Sampdoria in 1994.
Juventus 1-2 Lazio Agg 2-4
Lazio attacked the game from the start and that alone unsettled Juventus. Mauro Zarate put the Aquilotti ahead after 38 minutes with a goal worthy of any game, a goal that was simply unstoppable. Maurito gathered the ball after a superb pass from Kolarov and curled the ball into the top right hand corner past Buffon from all of 30 yards. Lazio doubled their lead and put the tie to bed after 52 minutes with another stunning strike from Kolarov. The attacking wing back fired a shot that took a deflection of Grygera and looped over Buffon into the top right corner. Buffon amazingly managed to get his hand to it despite the off putting deflection, but he just could not keep it out. Juve pulled one back through a well taken Del Piero strike who replaced Iaqunita in the second half, but it was too little too late and Lazio will march to the final on May 13th.
Inter 1-0 Sampdoria Agg 1-3
A highly entertaining game from the San Siro ended with Sampdoria celebrations, despite the defeat. Sampdoria looked comfortable for the first 20 minutes and their huge contingent of travelling fans were in good voice. But, Zlatan Ibrahimovic finished off a route 1 move with an outstanding finish from just inside the box, firing from right to left into the top left corner. Zlatan nearly doubled Inter's lead with a shot that looked reminiscent of a golfers chip from the top left of the area. It was an outstanding and deliberate effort that just came back off the bar. It was all Inter, but Samp made it to half time unscaved. Despite going for broke it just would not go in for Inter, and Cassano nearly punished them with a delightful move that was shut down just by Cesar. Samp held on, and will meet Lazio.
