Champions League and Europa Leagure draw / Calcio Mercato roundup

Fiorentina will face a tough test in the Champions League qualifying round. They will play against Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. Fiorentina have been very quite on the transfer market so far and will need to reinforce before they begin their season after loosing Brazilian International and world class midfielder Felipe Melo to Juventus. Time will tell who they sign

In the Europa League Lazio, Genoa and Roma will fancy their chances of going on into the group stages of the competition. Lazio will play against Swedish side Elfsborg, Genoa against Danish side Odense and Roma against Slovakian side Kosice after defeating Gent 10-2 on aggregate. The Italian side will fancy their chances in winning this competition but will have to watch out for their English, Spanish and German counterparts. The final qualifying round fixtures take place on the 20th and 27th of this month.

Calcio Mercato
Klass Jan Huntelaar has been confirmed as a Milan player today and it would seem he is not to be the last arrival in Milan this summer. Lazio's Lorenzo Di Silvestri is rumoured to be next in a swap deal with Ignazio Abate. This would be beneficial for both clubs, as Milan need to improve their defence and Lazio need further quality in midfield, especially if god forbid Eliseu or Foggia were to get injured.

However, there is sad news today for Roma fans. Alberto Aquilani has been sold to Liverpool for a fee of around £20 million. But, this does give them money to spend, perhaps to improve their defence or their forward line. After all, they have massive depth in midfield with De Rossi, Pizzaro, Perotta, Menez, Brighi and Taddei battling for positions.

And don't forget...
To check back on the site tomorrow night, to see a report on the Italian Super Cup final. Inter v Lazio kicks off at 13pm UK time and is being held in Beijing two weeks before the Serie A season kicks off. I simply cannot wait for it all to begin again. In light of that, a whole comprehensive preview will be available on the site in the near future. Check back to see who your team has signed this summer.
